Seriously easy makeup for mommas-on-the-go #1!

As a first time and still relatively new mom, I know how precious time can be. As I've mentioned before, my fiancé works away most of the time so I don't have the other set of hands to help out if I wanna throw a face on.
Over the past few months I've discovered a few looks that are super simple and fast. If you're sick of hearing people tell you how tired you look when you're grabbing groceries or dropping your babies off at school then definitely keep reading. I feel ya, girl.
Start off by laying your base down. If you've got yourself a good foundation routine that you're happy with then by all means, do that. If you'd like some suggestions, you can check out my updated foundation routine to see the products I like and how I apply them.
I wasn't born with bangin' eyebrows. They're reeeaaaallllyyyyy thin. I didn't have much to begin with but then I massacred them when I was about 15. All my friends were tweezing their brows and the need to fit in can be a b*tch. I like to fill mine in so that it's possible for others to read my facial expressions. :P I use charcoal brown eyeshadow from MAC and a super old small angled brush from QUO. I basically just follow my natural brow to define them a little more.
Next, I take my Maybelline color tattoo in bad to the bronze and just use my finger and blend that over my entire lid and up into the crease a bit.
I use MAC shadow in woodwinked and my Sigma E40 brush and work that right into the crease. Bring it all through the crease but focus a little extra on the outer corners. Make sure to blend it up too to blur any harsh lines. Honestly, woodwinked is a must have MAC shadow. It's so multidimensional that you really can use it on its own if you blend it up into your crease it hits the light and looks like you're wearing a separate crease colour. If you don't have it already, go buy it. End rant.
I like to take a light shimmery colour, like virgin from my naked palette, and pop that right under my brow and in the inner corners of my eyes. This will help to brighten and make your eyes appear more open to combat the tired eyes us mommies get.
I line my waterline and upper lashline with either a soft black or brown liner and then curl my lashes and put on a couple coats of black mascara. Lastly, some soft pink blush (I like well dressed by MAC) over your cheeks and a nice neutral lip (primrose by Revlon) and voila! Done! You can just opt for some gloss or even just a lip balm. So quick, so easy.
Switching this from day to night is super easy too. Take a darker bronzy colour, I like darkhorse from my naked palette, and deepen up your crease colour. Use a pencil brush and sweep woodwinked under your bottom lashes. Grab a super black eyeliner and draw a thicker line on your top lashline and wing it out. My favorite black liner is blacktrack gel liner by MAC. Add some more mascara or even pop on some false lashes. Now you have a really pretty date night look! For a little extra drama, put on a pretty bright pink lip.
You're ready for a well deserved night out!

The great debate: Huggies vs Pampers

Whether you're expecting, expecting to expect or you've already got a little munchkin at home, you're probably overwhelmed by the insane amount of decisions you need to make regarding your little bundle. Breast or bottle? What colour will you paint the baby's room? What brand of lotion will you use on his/her skin? Disposable or reusable diapers?
If you're like me and chose disposable, now you're faced with the daunting task of choosing what brand you'll use. (Okay, maybe that one isn't as stressful as, say, picking out her name) I literally had a panic attack when I was making any little decision when I was pregnant. As if the diaper cream I chose was going to determine what university my baby would get into. Crazy, crazy hormones. I always went to my mom first to see what she did or used and then would sometimes also ask friends their opinions also.
You could always just make the choosing easy by buying whatever is on sale but, me being me, I pondered and researched and stressed out too much over this one. Huggies or Pampers? I know there are tons of other brands but these were supposedly the tried, tested and true. Also I knew that if I were in another town and needed more diapers that these would usually be the brands readily available. My mom used Pampers, my friends used Pampers and, after careful consideration and plenty of Internet reviews, I also chose Pampers.
In my opinion, they did everything they were supposed to. At 6 weeks she slept through the night and anything that happened during the night stayed inside that diaper. We never had a blowout unless she pooed when she was in her Bumbo or jumper and that was only if I didn't notice right away and it crept up her back. Nasty. The bands never bothered her legs and they did really feel nice and soft. All in all, I was pretty happy with these diapers and I wasn't planning on changing but I didn't really have anything to compare to how other brands hold up. That is, until one day when Emily and I went on a road trip to go visit her daddy at work and I needed to make a late night run to the store for diapers. The only place open was a small corner store and all they carried were Huggies so I grabbed a pack. When I pulled one out of the package, I could see differences already. They didn't feel as soft and the material was...loud? I dunno, it crinkled when she moved about. A diaper isn't something I wanna hear. It was actually one of the first nights she slept for 7 hours straight. In the morning, I noticed her clothes were wet from her diaper leaking. 1st strike. Wasn't hugely worried about it because 9 times out of 10 she wouldn't be in the diaper that long. I wanted to use up the remainder of the pack because I really didn't want to waste it. A few times I did notice that her legs were a little red where the bands had irritated her skin. Strike 2. Definitely liking them less but it really only happened when she was in her car seat for longish periods of time.
One day I had her on a blanket on the floor so she could wiggle around and she did a number two. At some point in her wiggling, the diaper had slid over to the side of her bum and she had a big ol' stain on her sleeper. Well, let me tell you, that sh*t (yes, pun intended) is hard to get out! Diapers are made for babies and I think they should move with them the way that a baby would move. Strike 3.
All in all, they weren't as soft or comfy for Emily. They didn't hold as much as the Pampers do and I just didn't care for the crinkling.
I know I've had each of the strikes with the Pampers at least once but I really do just prefer them overall. Since I started using the Baby Dry ones, I haven't had any issues with leaking at all, even when she has a very wonderful 10 hour sleep at night. They soak the wetness right up and it seems to keep it away from her skin. She was starting to get a bit of a rash, which I think is from teething poo's, but since starting to use the Baby Dry's it seems to be helping to clear it up.

Of course, this is all my personal opinion. What's your brand?
