The great debate: Huggies vs Pampers

Whether you're expecting, expecting to expect or you've already got a little munchkin at home, you're probably overwhelmed by the insane amount of decisions you need to make regarding your little bundle. Breast or bottle? What colour will you paint the baby's room? What brand of lotion will you use on his/her skin? Disposable or reusable diapers?
If you're like me and chose disposable, now you're faced with the daunting task of choosing what brand you'll use. (Okay, maybe that one isn't as stressful as, say, picking out her name) I literally had a panic attack when I was making any little decision when I was pregnant. As if the diaper cream I chose was going to determine what university my baby would get into. Crazy, crazy hormones. I always went to my mom first to see what she did or used and then would sometimes also ask friends their opinions also.
You could always just make the choosing easy by buying whatever is on sale but, me being me, I pondered and researched and stressed out too much over this one. Huggies or Pampers? I know there are tons of other brands but these were supposedly the tried, tested and true. Also I knew that if I were in another town and needed more diapers that these would usually be the brands readily available. My mom used Pampers, my friends used Pampers and, after careful consideration and plenty of Internet reviews, I also chose Pampers.
In my opinion, they did everything they were supposed to. At 6 weeks she slept through the night and anything that happened during the night stayed inside that diaper. We never had a blowout unless she pooed when she was in her Bumbo or jumper and that was only if I didn't notice right away and it crept up her back. Nasty. The bands never bothered her legs and they did really feel nice and soft. All in all, I was pretty happy with these diapers and I wasn't planning on changing but I didn't really have anything to compare to how other brands hold up. That is, until one day when Emily and I went on a road trip to go visit her daddy at work and I needed to make a late night run to the store for diapers. The only place open was a small corner store and all they carried were Huggies so I grabbed a pack. When I pulled one out of the package, I could see differences already. They didn't feel as soft and the material was...loud? I dunno, it crinkled when she moved about. A diaper isn't something I wanna hear. It was actually one of the first nights she slept for 7 hours straight. In the morning, I noticed her clothes were wet from her diaper leaking. 1st strike. Wasn't hugely worried about it because 9 times out of 10 she wouldn't be in the diaper that long. I wanted to use up the remainder of the pack because I really didn't want to waste it. A few times I did notice that her legs were a little red where the bands had irritated her skin. Strike 2. Definitely liking them less but it really only happened when she was in her car seat for longish periods of time.
One day I had her on a blanket on the floor so she could wiggle around and she did a number two. At some point in her wiggling, the diaper had slid over to the side of her bum and she had a big ol' stain on her sleeper. Well, let me tell you, that sh*t (yes, pun intended) is hard to get out! Diapers are made for babies and I think they should move with them the way that a baby would move. Strike 3.
All in all, they weren't as soft or comfy for Emily. They didn't hold as much as the Pampers do and I just didn't care for the crinkling.
I know I've had each of the strikes with the Pampers at least once but I really do just prefer them overall. Since I started using the Baby Dry ones, I haven't had any issues with leaking at all, even when she has a very wonderful 10 hour sleep at night. They soak the wetness right up and it seems to keep it away from her skin. She was starting to get a bit of a rash, which I think is from teething poo's, but since starting to use the Baby Dry's it seems to be helping to clear it up.

Of course, this is all my personal opinion. What's your brand?
